2009 Chevrolet Cobalt
The 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt will see minor changes for this year’s model. The engine is up 7 horsepower from last year’s model. In addition to the horsepower increase, there is also a significant mileage gain. Due to the taller drive ratio with variable valve timing, the 2009 model will get 37 MPG on the highway and 25 MPG in the city.
The new Cobalt SS is a completely fresh car. With a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine with 260 horsepower, very similar to the Pontiac Solstice GXP.
Features:
- Brembo Front Brakes
- Stability Control
- Side Airbags
- New Body Kit
- 5 Speed Manual Transmission
- 0 to 60 – 5.7 Seconds
Although the new Cobalt is noisier than almost all of its competition, it still has ample speed and handling for any driver to enjoy. The interior though, has some very awkward styling. Although the guages are nice and clean, the interior has a little too much plastic around it. The way that the seats were mounted and the power steering reacts may leave the driver feeling a little uncomfortable. The base model features a soft suspension, but it did not seem to help this issue very much.
Performance Appearance Package:
- Rear Spoiler
- 16 in Wheels
- Chrome Exhaust Tips
- Fog lamps
- White Face Guages
- Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel
- XM Satellite Radio
Standard safety features include ESP (Electronic Stability Control) and anti lock brakes. ABS is optional. Unfortunately, the car itself did not receive very good safety ratings. It scored 3 out of 5 in side driver categories, and 4 out of 5 everywhere else. Although the car comes with a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty, it has a horrible resale value and a low satisfaction rating by previous buyers.
