2010 Chevrolet Cobalt

With a code name of GMX071, the all new 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt marks the beginning of a whole new way of doing things. What is known as global compact vehicle architecture is being used on the car, one of the first for Chevrolet. This means a tremendous cut in production cost for Chevy, because many different models from SUVs to compact cars can utilize the same assembly line, greatly reducing the cost of manufacturing different cars in different plants. The Cobalt is constructed in the Lordstown plant, where all other Cobalts have previously been produced.

Onlookers will easily recognize the distinct Chevy grille in front, but a new longer side body style presents a fresh look to the car. The trunk is more hidden with a raised central section.

More importantly, with the innovation of the global compact vehicle architecture, 30 new models of cars will be produced in 4 years, at a much lower cost and higher efficiency than before. The Cobalt can easily be fitted with a hatchback, crossover, diesel engine, or other gas saving commodities, making it a prime choice for consumers as gas prices rise in these hard economic times.
