There have been countless Chevy Cobalt Recalls in past, which have been major source of concern for the used Cobalt buyers, as many a times some of the ignorant owners have not got the issues resolved and resulted in whole lot of problems for the used Cobalt buyers.
Safety Standards
Considering the 2009 Chevy Cobalt recalls, General Motors has recalled 276,729 my 2009 buick enclave, chevrolet cobalt, and several other passenger vehicles, as they fail to comply with 102nd safety standard of the federal motor vehicles — “transmission shift position sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect”, and “theft protection and rollaway prevention”
Problems
The transmission shift cable adjustment clip have been reported to be loosely fit and improperly engaged resulting in mismatch between the actual position of the transmission gear and shift lever. This could be extremely fatal because even if the drive moves the shifter to park position, the transmission gear may be in some other position than “park” even after removal of the ignition key.
All the current 2009 Cobalt owners must pay attention to this recall and get the issue fixed and General Motors has also promised that they will replace all defective shift cables totally free of charge.
