The 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt cars come with few new features and more standard horsepower. Cobalt cars are available in both two door coupe as well as four door sedan models and they are offered in four different trim levels, namely the base Cobalt, high performance SS, LS and in LT versions.
Engine
The high performance SS model is new for 2009 in the Cobalt cars lineup. The LT and LS models are powered by a 2.2 liter four cylinder engine that can produce power up to 155 hp, an increase of 7 horse powers in comparison to the 2008 version. The 2.4 liter four-cylinder has been discontinued, which is used in the sports model.
The high performance Cobalt car is equipped with a four cylinder 2.0 liter turbo charged engine that can produce power up to 260 hp. The 5-speed manual transmission is standard on all the trim models.
Features
The standard safety features available in a Cobalt car comprises of antiskid system, curtain side air bags, traction control and Antilock braking system. The new features to the 2009 model include USB port for controlling iPods and a wireless cell phone link. The competitor models to the Cobalt cars include Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Nissan Versa, Hyundai Elantra, Scion xB and Chevrolet HHR.
