It is always advisable to learn about all used car recalls, vehicle breakdowns, various problems and their relevant resolutions directly from the manufacturers and NHTSA, rather than waiting until you’re helpless on the roadside just because you never bothered to do so.

Cobalt

The Chevy Cobalt is an excellent vehicle, but when it comes to strength of engine and transmission, the older models falter to a good deal.

Safety Concerns

Consider the 2006 Chevy Cobalt Recalls, all the 2006 Cobalt models lack roof-mounted side impact air bags, and don’t comply with safety requirement #201 of federal motor vehicle safety standards titled – ‘occupant protection in interior impact.’.

Protection Issues

As a result, the head impact protection could be inadequate and this may put the driver and passenger’s safety under risk. As a remedy, the dealers were advised to install energy absorbing plastic. By adding these to headliner trim, the severity of head impacts in case of collision could be reduced to a good extent. This recall was commenced on March 21, 2007.

Moreover, the bulb shields inside headlamps were found to loosen in certain 2005 Chevy Cobalt models due to high levels of vibration and as a remedy, two new headlamp assemblies were installed by the dealers later on.

Hence, if the earlier owner hasn’t bothered to look into such matters, you should ensure that he/she does the same before you buy the vehicle.
