However, the SS model failed to produce with a 2.0 liter supercharged four cylinder Ecotec engine generating 205 hp. Later the engine was upgraded to a powerful turbocharged engine along with the other mechanical updates. The result is a high performance car.

The heart of the turbo model is its engine, a direct injection, turbo charged version of the same 2.2 liter Ecotec now delivers power up to 260 hp and torque of 260 lb ft. The turbo model is available since 2008 and the turbocharged engine is also used in most of the cars like Saturn Sky red Line and Pontiac Solstice GXP. The turbo engine can achieve fuel economy of 35 miles per gallon on the highway roads.

With the use of turbocharged engine, this Chevrolet model can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilo meters per hour in a time of just 5.7 seconds. So as to match the performance of the turbo engine, the compact car is featured with 18 inch corvette inspired wheels.
